MM, BM, CHM — cello, electric cello & vocals
Laurie's journey through music has been a vibrant tapestry — woven with passion, dedication, and an insatiable curiosity for new sounds. From her roots in Lancaster, PA, she's built a rich musical life around the cello, treating it not just as an instrument but as a vessel for exploration and expression.
Her resume spans classical, jazz, folk, and improvisatory music. Her 180-year-old German cello resonates with every note she plays, while her NS Design 5-string electric cello lets her explore the boundaries of sound in jazz settings.
As a Certified Healthcare Musician, Laurie brings music's healing power directly to those who need it most — engaging with room-bound residents and hospice patients, creating a shared space of warmth and musicality that transcends words.
Her collaborative spirit shows in her work with Abigail's Garden and TRP (The Reese Project), each letting her explore a different facet of her musical identity. She's shared stages with artists like Melissa Manchester and the Miami Sound Machine, performing everywhere from the East Coast to Europe. Laurie's teaching philosophy champions the curiosity of adult learners, guiding players through both classical repertoire and the spontaneity of improvisation. During her tenure at the Lancaster Conservatory of Music and various colleges, she inspired countless students; her workshops at Strings Excell have empowered young string players to embrace creativity and take risks.
